Adopt a Horse

We do not have horses available for adoption at this time.

The horses we’ve rescued are available for adoption to permanent and loving homes. We have given them a second chance at life and they are ready to make room in our barns for other abused or abandoned equines.

Horses and other equines are also available for adoption directly from their sources, such as the Bureau of Land Management’s wild horse and burro pens.

In order to qualify for one of our adoptive horses, caretakers must sign a contract promising to never harm, abandon, mistreat, loan or sell the horse while under their care. If, for some reason, the adoptive caretaker can no longer provide for the animal, Shilo's Inn requires that we approve the horse’s new placement or that the horse be returned to our premises. We will always welcome them back!

Our adoption fees — also tax-deductible donations — range from $250 to $2500 per horse, depending on the animal’s level of training, temperament, and history of abuse or abandonment.
