As we explained on our home page, Shilo's Inn is an equine rescue and recovery facility inspired by an abused and slaughter-bound Arabian horse named Shilo (read his harrowing story on our About Shilo page).
Shilo's Inn is located in northern California, about 80 miles north of Sacramento, in Chico, just a few miles from Highway 99. This special rescue facility is nestled among the state's almond and walnut farmlands, and is the perfect quiet country place to rehabilitate abused and abandoned horses (and other equines).
To see pictures of our facility and to follow its construction progress, please visit Our Ranch; we are amazed ourselves at how we took five flat and barren acres and turned them into a life-enriched and loving place. It is still a work in progress so stay tuned!
You may also take a look at Our Rescues, the horses who have come and gone from our hands, from terrible circumstances into happy endings. Visit Helping Us to learn about ways you can help horses who are desperately needing rescue, and those who are still in need of a sponsor, a foster home, or an adoptive caretaker (perhaps that person is you?).
In exchange for a tax-deductible donation, Shilo's Inn also offers temporary lay-ups for injured horses, horses in need of daily or hourly veterinary care, and horses in transit. Please contact us for details. Who are we? Read all about our small but dedicated team in About Us. Your horse is definitely in good hands at Shilo's Inn.
